City Walk

The new Odense
From worn-out industrial city to green city of the future

The Transformation

How has Odense managed to transform from an old industrial city in financial crisis to a modern, green, and innovative city?

That's precisely the question we delve into during our 2-hour city tour.

This isn't about old churches and deceased kings; it's about the here and now, and the future of the city.

The Tour

City Walk

Discover a side of Odense beyond the ordinary tourist trails, where every step unveils the city's dynamic history and progressive vision for the future.

The tour focuses on urban development.

It explores the transformation from an industrial city to a green city. We look at, how the city aims to foster innovative creativity and provide affordable housing for young people in the city center.

But we also talk about the Danish education system, the normal life in the city, the infrastructure, the economic life, and much more.

The tour starts in the old part of the city. From there, we head towards the harbour, which in many ways is the symbol of Odense's modern transformation.

Along the way, we pass through the former industrial area, where a completely new district is developing in these years.

Back to our starting point - so we take a circular route - we walk through a completed urban area, which is located where just a few years ago, a six-lane main thoroughfare ran right through the city center.

In the final part of the tour, we explore the charming old section of Odense and see how the remnants of the old town are beautifully integrated with the newly built areas of the inner city.

The best part of the tour is the many insider tips you can't find in any tourist brochure or anywhere else.

The new Odense is a city tour for those who want more knowledge.

The tour is 3.8 km and lasts 2 hours.
